Scholarship Opportunities For Students
2008 National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Scholarships:
To be eligible for any NRAEF Award, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.A. or be a resident of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Academic Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
For students who are pursuing a certificate, associate degree or bachelor degree in a restaurant and/or foodservice related program
To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be a college student who is currently enrolled full-time or substantial part-time (minimum of 9 credit hours) in an accredited culinary school, college or university.
- Have completed at least one grading term of your college or post-secondary program.
- Have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
- Have a minimum of 750 hours of restaurant or foodservice related work experience verified through paycheck stubs or letters.
- Be enrolled for 2 consecutive semesters or not be entering your last semester before graduating.
Application Deadlines: There are 3 selection periods. Your application will be considered in the period in which it is received. The dates are March 31, July 31 and October 31, 2008.
Academic Scholarship for High School Seniors & GED Graduates
For high school seniors and GED graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to both a post-secondary foodservice education and a career in the restaurant and foodservice industry
To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be a graduating high school senior or have earned a GED certificate but not be a current undergraduate.
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0 scale (or its equivalent), or a GED average standard score of 470 or more.
- Have a minimum of 250 hours of restaurant or foodservice-related work experience.
- Be accepted to and enrolled in an accredited culinary school, college or university, full-time or substantial part-time (minimum 9 credit hours). And, major in culinary arts or foodservice management.
- Plan to remain in school for at least two terms.
Application Deadline: May 16, 2008
ProStart® National Certificate of Achievement Scholarship
For students who have earned a ProStart Certificate of Achievement by participating in the ProStart program
To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be a graduating high school senior or high school junior.
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
- Have received a National ProStart Certificate of Achievement between September 2007 and August 14, 2008.
*Please note: This scholarship can be awarded by the NRAEF in addition to receiving other NRAEF or MRAEF/NRAEF co-branded awards.
